Franzia gave me a bunch of KBCO studio recordings which are amaaaazing and I was listening to them by the pool (this pool) while reading East of Eden. Have you ever had an avocado milkshake? I highly recommend them.

Drove to Waimea Canyon, finished The Road, listened to the Shins by the pool. Rough life.

#36: Sophisticated Side Ponytail

Stuck inside due to my horrendous sunburn, I read The Road and listened to a mix from BS... get ready for this one, if you haven't heard it before. It's pretty awesome. This video is nutso.

#35: Won't Let Me Go

Our second night in Hawaii, there was a wedding reception on the lawn outside our bedroom. I was pretty over hearing their horrendous band do Hawaiian-style covers of "Shout," so I had to drown them out with Amos Lee on the iHome.

#34: Ninna nanna

Ok, so I didn't exactly keep up with my updates. It turns out that although it is summer and I don't have homework or a full time job, I do have a lot of things to do that are more exciting than being on my computer. Like hiking and swimming and generally being awesome.

Anyway. We flew first class (!!) to Hawaii and after my complimentary glass of champagne at 10 in the morning, I passed out for most of the flight with Pink Martini blaring through my headphones. This is from Splendor in the Grass, their latest.

#33: Lovely Rita

BS gave me Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band in a package a few weeks ago and today on the drive back from the beach we listened to it all the way through. It is a reggae cover of Sgt Pepper, and it is really incredible! As hopefully this song will demonstrate. It's best as an album, but just imagine what the album would be like after hearing this.



Well I'm off to Hawaii for the week, but I'll be back with updates (probably...) on July 3rd. Try not to be too jealous of my amazing life.

#32: Breakin' Up

So while making omelettes, I made a Genius playlist based on "Portions For Foxes" and iTunes, as it often does, was intuitive enough to suggest more Rilo Kiley. In iTunes' defense, it also put many songs by other artists on the playlist, this just happens to be the one I picked out. Anyway this song is great.
